YOUNGSTOWN The defense began presenting its case Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, seeking to challenge the prosecution's claims that 51-year-old Stacie Gilmore of Youngstown kidnapped and endangered her juvenile son in February 2023.

Gilmore faces charges including first-degree felony kidnapping, third-degree felony child endangering, and misdemeanor domestic violence, stemming from an incident reported on February 28, 2023.

The charges against Gilmore, a Youngstown resident, are rooted in a Boardman Police Department investigation that began when an 11-year-old boy was found unsupervised at a Target store on Boardman-Poland Road. Store employees noticed the boy had been in the store for several hours, prompting a call to the police.
