AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We are learning more about an shooting behind a downtown Augusta hotel that left two people hospitalized on Tuesday.

According to the Richmond County Sheriffs Office, the shooting happened behind the Ramada Hotel in an alleyway near 6th and Ellis streets.

On Tuesday around 8 p.m., deputies say they responded to the area of 45th Street in reference to shots fired.

While canvassing the area, deputies were then dispatched to the 600 block of Ellis Street in reference to shots fired and a victim with a gunshot wound, according to the incident report.

On scene, deputies found one of the subjects inside her car. The victim was also in the car in the back seat with a gunshot wound towards his upper back.
