Some consumers hoping to transfer funds via mobile money-sending apps PayPal and Venmo were reporting outages on Thursday, Oct. 16.

Users began reporting problems with both apps about 11:15 a.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 16, according to Downdetector.com , which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources.

The trouble-tracking site showed outage reports peaking at about noon ET for both payment sites.

"PayPal and Venmo experienced a brief service disruption that has since been resolved," the company said in a statement to USA TODAY at 1 p.m. ET.
