(KRON) – A representative for PayPal said a "technical issue" was to blame after thousands of PayPal and Venmo users reported having difficultly accessing their accounts on Thursday.

The issues reportedly impacted users' ability to log into the online payment platforms. The payment apps started to see spikes in reported login issues sometime after 8 a.m. PDT. An hour later, nearly 9,600 complaints had been reported to DownDetector among PayPal users and around 8,300 were reported from Venmo users.

Some frustrated users took to the services’ social media pages to complain.

“Is something wrong with yalls app?” one Venmo user asked. “Just keeps face scanning and loading over and over.”
