New Delhi: United Arab Emirates became the 20th and last team to qualify for the men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after beating Japan by 8 wickets in the final qualifying game on Thursday. Batting first, Japan were restricted to 116 for 9 and the UAE completed the target in just 12.1 overs losing only two wickets.
Thus, UAE claimed a ticket to the marquee T20 competition by virtue of securing a top-three spot at the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier in Oman. UAE joined Nepal and Oman who had guaranteed their positions a day earlier on Wednesday, completing the final slate of 20 teams for the global event. By virtue of this result, a top-three finish becomes mathematically impossible for Qatar and Samoa, who were hoping for a Japanese win to keep their hopes alive.
