There was a time in my life when I’d hear people talk about a 7 p.m. start time being too late for a high school football game and I’d think was those people were losers.

Well, now I’m one of them.

It’s happened. I can’t pinpoint a date, but at some point in the last year, my oldness has changed dramatically and convenience now rules my life.

Tradition keeps the 7 p.m. start times alive and it’s easy to see why. There’s so much nostalgia surrounding a community-driven event such as a Friday night high school football game and the late kick, on paper, seems like a great way to keep it going.

But some things have changed, and we’re not just talking about my age creeping up higher than I’d like it to be.

In the past, a 7 p.m. high school football game was over by 8:45 p.m and went to 9 p
