HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Ottawa Middle School student is recovering from a concussion after his mother says he was tackled by a coach during football practice late last month.

Thirteen-year-old Patreon Williams, an eighth grader at Harbor Lights Middle School, says the incident happened during a routine drill in late September.

“We were running drills, pass coverage drills,” Williams said. “As I was catching the ball on offense, the coach got mad and said, ‘Let me show you how to stop this person from catching the ball.’”

Williams’ mother, Maria Williams, told NewsNation local affiliate WOOD she was watching from the parking lot when she saw something unsettling.
