A 79-year-old Tunica man died Wednesday afternoon after an incident at the Nel-Win Camp boat ramp on Tunica Lake (Tunica Cutoff), according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatchers were notified around 1:42 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2025, by Pafford Emergency Medical Services of a reported drowning. Deputies and first responders arrived to find a truck and trailer fully submerged and a white male unresponsive on the lake bank.

Medics treated the man on scene, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Tunica County Coroner. Next of kin were present and helped confirm his identity as John Reeves, 79, of Tunica.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office at 662-363-1411.
