The federal government shutdown has put the women's basketball season opener between No. 1 UConn and No. 20 Louisville in limbo.

The Connecticut Insider reported Thursday the game, scheduled for Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Nov. 4, might need to be moved stateside.

Per the report, the Armed Forces Classic will be moved to a naval outpost in Washington, D.C., if the shutdown doesn't end by Monday.

Ramstein is operating at less than full staffing as workers in non-essential programs have been furloughed.

This is scheduled to be the 10th Armed Forces Classic and the first between women's teams.

The UConn men played in the inaugural game, also held at Ramstein, on Nov. 9, 2012, defeating Michigan State 66-62.
