ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A teenager is facing murder and related charges Thursday after police say he shot and killed a man in the West End in December.

St. Louis City prosecutors charged 17-year-old Thomas Russell with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m. on Dec. 17 in the 5600 block of Enright. Police say the victim, 19-year-old Khalil McCleary, was driving with his girlfriend to her home when she noticed Russell.

According to a police affidavit, McCleary’s girlfriend saw Russell walking up to the car they were in with a gun in his hand. Russell then started shooting at McCleary. McCleary was shot multiple times along with the car he was driving and t
