Kathleen Potter was born in Coronado, CA, at the US Naval Hospital, North Island Naval Air Station. She grew up in Coronado and lived there for many years.
Kathleen was very gregarious and made many lifelong friends, mostly in Coronado. She was the youngest of six children of Dr. Stephen E. Flynn and Estelle Kinney Flynn of Coronado. She attended Sacred Heart School through the 8th grade and Coronado High School, graduating in 1964. After High School, Kathleen attended Arizona State University. After a year, she returned to Coronado. She decided to follow her four brothers and her father into a medical career and obtained an RN degree from Southwestern College, working at several hospitals in the San Diego area, including Mercy Hospital and Alvarado Hospital.
