The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert on Thursday, October 16, for heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. The Met Office has also predicted heavy rainfall over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD also predicted squally weather with wind speeds of 35 kmph to 45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph along and off the Kerala coasts and adjoining sea areas, over Lakshadweep, Maldives, Cape Comorin areas, and over the Gulf of Mannar.

Further withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon
