Over 200 cities and places across California have “No Kings” protests scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18 in the latest nationwide mobilization challenging the Trump administration.

Millions nationwide participated in No Kings Day demonstrations in June, but whether October’s No Kings events will attract the same turnout remains to be seen.

But for Californians who attend a protest, organizers task them with a responsibility: de-escalation.

“A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action,” according to No Kings . “We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.”
