ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A Claremont man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found at her Taylorsville home earlier this month, authorities said.

William Shook, 32, was arrested in Ohio on Oct. 9 after deputies found him driving the victim's stolen vehicle, according to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a home on Stan De La Drive in Taylorsville on Oct. 7 regarding a death investigation. Officers found the body of Jamie Suzette McCloud, 54. An autopsy determined the cause of death was homicide.

Investigators determined McCloud and Shook were involved in a dating relationship, authorities said.
