BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Centre is running out of room as conventions and local events compete for limited dates, prompting the Greater Boise Auditorium District to explore a major expansion that could more than double the facility's size.
Cody Lund, director of the Boise Centre, said the current 80,000-square-foot facility struggles to accommodate demand from both conventions and local events seeking space.
"We really wanted to take a look at what our product opportunities were," Lund said.
The proposed expansion could add up to 160,000 square feet, including meeting rooms, an exhibit hall, a performing arts center and an indoor sports complex. The expansion could allow the centre to host about 360 events annually, roughly 100 more than it currently accommodates.
