When Javon Bea announced a $100 million “investment” in FHN after closing Rockford’s only hospital on the west side, he called it an act of community care.

Let’s be honest — it's just plain greed.

Mr. Bea can find $100 million to expand his empire, but can’t find the integrity to settle a fair contract with the UAW healthcare workers at Mercy Clinic East in Janesville, Wisconsin, who have been on strike since July 2.

These are the same workers who carried Mercy through the pandemic — who cared for patients when leadership hid. Bea shut down hospitals that served vulnerable families on the west side of Rockford, then boasted about buying into new markets. That’s not mercy, that’s greed.
