A former Keokuk County sheriff’s deputy convicted of child endangerment in a drunken hayride crash that injured more than a dozen children has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

David Alan Heady, 33, was sentenced Wednesday, Oct. 15, in Keokuk County District Court, a month after a jury found him guilty of 13 counts of child endangerment for an Oct. 14, 2023, hayride crash that threw 29 children from a trailer, seriously injuring two and hospitalizing several others.
