FARGO — North Dakota State was firmly in command of Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon when Salukis running back Eddie Robinson took a handoff and sprinted up the middle. After 12 yards, he met Bison safety Darius Givance in a hard collision.
Before the Salukis ran their next play, referees stopped play to review potential targeting on Givance, a determination that was made by the replay official in the Fargodome press box.
Targeting was confirmed, and Givance by rule will miss the first half of NDSU’s game at Indiana State on Saturday. The Bison were planning to appeal the call, but head coach Tim Polasek got to a larger issue in his post-game press conference.
