The UK Football Policing Unit ( UKFPU) have released a statement regarding the decision to ban Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters from attending next month's Europa League match against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Supporters of the Israeli club will not be allowed to attend the fixture on Thursday, November 6, after the body responsible for issuing safety certificates for football matches cited safety concerns.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer criticised the decision to block away supporters, prompting a meeting between Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, the Home Office, and the police to discuss the situation.
Ministers and local officials are now working with police to try and amend this decision, but the UKFPU have backed the original decision, made by Birmingham ’s Safety Advi
