Students participating in the welding program at the Jefferson County Vocational School in Bloomingdale used their weekly team period to work on some unique projects. According to officials, the students did some upcycling in their “Junk to Funk” projects. Welding instructor Todd Parker explained students have had the opportunity to use scrap pieces of metal, railroad spikes, pipes, washers and horseshoes to craft other objects, such as bookends, keychains, animal décor and pumpkins. Those making their harvest of horseshoe pumpkins as their project included, from left, seniors L.J. Mitchell and Eli Kuczykowski.
