Video footage has captured a troop of gorillas still in their enclosure - three years after their zoo shut to the public. ‌

Eight gorillas were filmed this week 'banging on the windows' by urban explorers at Bristol Zoo, which closed its doors in 2022. ‌

As reported by the Mirror , the zoo has previously been criticised by a charity for continuing to house the western lowland gorillas in captivity while the new enclosure - which is located at a different site in the city - remains unfinished. ‌

The zoo said it had 'stepped up security' due to a number of break ins since the closure. Bosses claim that this has put both the safety of the gorillas and 'intruders' at risk.
