Vancouver City Council incumbent Diana Perez faces a challenge from Robert Elkin on the Nov. 4 ballot.
Perez, 55, who recently retired from a 35-year career with the U.S. Forest Service, hopes her public service and community advocacy history will help her win a second term on the council. Elkin, 20, a lifelong Vancouver resident, is focused on bringing a new, more youthful perspective to the council.
Though Elkin was unavailable for The Columbian’s city council candidate interviews that aired on Clark-Vancouver Television earlier this month, he and Perez did have a chance to discuss issues impacting Vancouver during an Oct. 10 League of Women Voters of Clark County candidate forum.
