LINCOLN, Neb. —

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen announced the state had published its contract with the Department of Homeland Security to use the Work Ethic Camp in McCook.

The facility will be turned into a federal detention facility for use by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The governor's office said it will start accepting detainees around Nov. 1, with DHS paying $2.4 million each month to the state.

“I’m very grateful to President Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem of the Department of Homeland Security for their strong leadership in securing our nation’s southern border and addressing illegal immigration through initiatives like this,” said Pillen.

Right now, there is a lawsuit in the works brought on by a few McCook residents.
