COBB COUNTY, Ga. - An 18-year-old is in custody and another is on the run after a shooting at a gas station in Cobb County Friday morning.

Cobb County police said an officer was patrolling the Mableton Parkway area just before 1 a.m. when shots rang out.

A gas station employee told Atlanta News First he saw a car drive up and another vehicle follow, before hearing the sound of gunfire.

The officer responded immediately, and the two suspects ran away.

After an extensive search involving police dogs, drones, and a helicopter, authorities managed to detain and arrest Jarion Howard, 18. The second person believed to be involved was not taken into custody, they said.

Police have not released details about what prompted the investigation, but officers say no one was hurt in the incident.
