OELWEIN, Iowa — An early morning incident on October 17 led to the arrest of a local man following a reported stabbing. The Oelwein Police Department, with assistance from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, responded after an officer noticed a vehicle driving erratically.

Upon stopping the vehicle, two stabbing victims were found inside and taken to the hospital for treatment. The investigation revealed that the altercation occurred in a residence on 3rd Street NW.

Nicholas Michel Spratt, 42, of Oelwein, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault willful injury-causing serious injury, a Class C felony, and child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was transported to Fayette County Jail, and additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
