A California man was arrested for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of Legos to resell them at inflated prices as part of a theft ring, local authorities recently announced.

Santa Rosa police began investigating an organized retail theft fencing operation against Robert Lopez, 39, last month, the department announced Oct. 15, in a news release. Lopez is a resident of Lake County, north of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Police said Lopez was directing others to steal expensive Lego sets and purchasing the stolen property at reduced prices before reselling the sets or individual mini-figurines at inflated prices.
