NORTHAMPTON, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Chicopee man has been sentenced in connection with a deadly South Hadley crash.

Laurie Loisel, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, said that 22-year-old Aneilio Rivera pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of negligent motor vehicle homicide by operation of a motor vehicle.

The charge stemmed from a crash that occurred on the morning of April 27, 2023 on River Lodge Road in South Hadley . Authorities said that Rivera was driving 58 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. The only passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Kenny Lopez Rivera of Martinsville, VA, was taken to Baystate Medical Center where he died.
