A Massachusetts man was sentenced Tuesday for his role in a crash that killed his 21-year-old friend in 2023, the district attorney's office said.
Aneilio Rivera, now 22, pleaded guilty to negligent motor vehicle homicide for the crash in South Hadley on April 27, 2023, according to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors said Rivera was speeding at 58 mph in a 25 mph zone on River Lodge Road when he lost control and hit a tree. His passenger, 21-year-old Kenny Lopez Rivera of Martinsville, Virginia, was killed.
Rivera was sentenced to two years in the House of Correction. He will also lose his license for 15 years.
