SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Partners from state and county governments as well as other groups have worked together to support keeping the Great Smoky Mountains National Park fully open and operational through Sunday, November 2 amid the government shutdown.

The Sevier County government announced the funding update on Friday. While the agreement between the county and state governments and other partners extends farther than the standard increment, Sevier County said the partners will be signing multiple agreements over the coming weeks to maintain funding.

"If the federal government shutdown continues into early November, the partners plan to meet during the week of October 27–31 to discuss next steps," a Sevier County spokesperson said.
