WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Wichita woman who admitted to killing her 16-year-old son last October was sentenced to serve about 16 years in prison.

The sentencing against Tesha Florence follows a prior court appearance in which she pleaded “no contest” to charges that included second-degree murder.

On Friday, a Sedgwick County District Court Judge sentenced Florence to 194 months (16 years, two months) in prison and ruled that she must register as a violent offender. The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office further said that Florence is subject to 36 months (three years) post-release supervision after she completes her prison sentence.
