The Celtics have been valued at $6.35 billion, a number that didn’t require a ton of guesswork this year. The team sold in a deal that closed in August for $6.1 billion.

Team values have soared across major sports in recent years, especially in the NBA, thanks in large part to television broadcast deals and international marketing. The Celtics’ most recent ownership group before now, led by Wyc Grousbeck, bought the team in 2002 for just $360 million.
