INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett joined Indy Parks Friday to break ground on improvements to Sahm Park on the northeast side of the city .

The $2.7 million project will include a new playground, shelter, pickleball courts and renovate the existing tennis pavilion and restroom facilities at the park, located at East 91st Street and Masters Road.

"These are the kinds of improvements that are making our city parks a real destination for all of our neighbors throughout Indianapolis. They are transforming them from general places of recreation to cultivated spaces that impact how our residents enjoy the natural world around them," Hogsett said.

Sahm Park also features soccer fields, basketball and volleyball courts, an aquatic center and a golf course.
