LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The City of Laredo issued an emergency advisory notice following a wastewater incident involving oil contamination in a portion of the city’s sewer system.

According to the advisory, city departments discovered oil had entered the wastewater system and coordinated with state and federal environmental agencies to contain, remove and remediate the affected areas.

Officials say the incident only involves the wastewater system and has not impacted the safety or quality of the city’s drinking water supply. Additionally, no interruption to city water or wastewater services is expected.
