It's been called a public health emergency. St. Tammany Parish is second in opioid deaths, behind Jefferson Parish. And last year, there were 400 overdoses and 115 deaths from drugs. Now two men in long-term recovery themselves, are responding to the drug crisis by opening a new treatment center in Slidell.

Chris Copeland remembers what his famous father, Al Copeland told him shortly before he died of cancer.

“He said, ‘Man, if I had two wishes it would be that I could cure this cancer, and that we could get you past your addictions,” Copeland, 52, the COO and co-founder of NOLA Detox recalled.
