Keith Urban knows well what it’s like to be a novice act opening a concert, so he was game to be the front man on “The Road.”
The country music superstar – who has had previous turns as a competition judge on “American Idol” and the Australian version of “The Voice” – stays in that television genre to a different degree, as CBS and Paramount+ premiere a new contest Sunday. With fellow music star Blake Shelton (“Honey Bee”) and “Yellowstone’s” Taylor Sheridan among those joining Urban as executive producers, the show makes 12 aspiring artists the opening acts for Urban at his concerts, with the on-site audiences determining who will continue on with him during the tour.
