MOBILE, Ala. ( WALA ) - When panic could have taken over, one local boy’s bravery made all the difference.

Eight-year-old Dorian McCollum was home alone with his grandmother when he noticed something was very wrong.

“They said 9-1-1 what’s the emergency,” Dorian recalled. “I said my grandma was sleeping and blood was coming out of her mouth.”

Despite being scared, Dorian didn’t freeze—he acted. Unable to make calls on his iPad, he quickly grabbed his grandmother’s phone and dialed 911.

“I told them my address,” he said. “They told me to get her on her back. But every time I did, she kept turning back.”

Mobile County dispatchers say Dorian stayed calm and clear, even describing what his house looked like so paramedics could find it faster.
