OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha police were contacted after a child brought a handgun to daycare for show-and-share, according to a message received by families from daycare staff.
No one was harmed, per the message.
Staff told families a child brought the gun to school for show-and-share in a bag in their backpack.
The child brought their backpack to the carpet area and emptied it, including the contents of a “belt bag” which included the gun.
The teacher secured the gun and it was removed from the classroom, then police were contacted, the message reads.
“We are working closely with local authorities as they conduct their investigation, and we are cooperating fully to ensure all appropriate steps are taken,” the statement reads. “The child involved will not return to school until the inv
