STORRS — Tyler Muszelik made 32 saves — 14 in the third period — as the No. 12 UConn men’s hockey team held on to defeat No. 16 Ohio State 3-2 on Friday night at Toscano Family Ice Forum.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 4 p.m. at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford.

Mike Murtagh got the Huskies (2-1-0) on the board first with a goal at 8:15 of the opening period. The Buckeyes’ Max Montes even things up, beating Muszelik at 18:17. UConn grabbed the lead back with a two-goal second period. Kevin Fitzgerald scored first, at 6:17 of the period, and Tristan Fraser increased the lead to 3-1 with his goal at 16:45.
