Southmoreland and Elizabeth Forward was everything anyone would expect from two teams battling for a conference championship.

Ryan Messina was virtually unstoppable as the Elizabeth Forward senior dual-threat quarterback ran roughshod on the Southmoreland defense.

He finished with 353 yards of total offense, three rushing touchdowns and threw for a 2-point conversion as the Class 3A No. 5 Warriors (8-1, 4-0) locked up no worse than a share of their second consecutive Interstate Conference title with a dominating, 42-0, road victory against the previously unbeaten and third-ranked Scotties (8-1, 3-1) Friday night at Russ Grimm Stadium.
