CLEVELAND, Ohio -Students will have fewer opportunities to gain broadcasting experience at WCSB 89.3 now that Cleveland State University has handed the station’s reins to Ideastream Public Media, protesters gathered Friday said.
Dozens of students, CSU alumni, former WCSB staff members, listeners, musicians and concerned community members gathered outside the City Club of Cleveland to object to CSU’s Oct. 3 agreement with Ideastream that turned the radio’s diverse music and talk format into JazzNEO.
Inside the City Club was a forum on the “The Future of Public Media.”
Chanting “Give it back, give it back,” “Hey hey, ho ho, Ideastream has got to go,” and “Shame on you, CSU,” protesters say it’s not just the loss of the student radio station that angers them, but the way it was handled. S
