PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur police are responding to a deadly crash at Charleston Avenue and 17th Street, a block off Savannah Avenue.

Police at the scene have confirmed that one person is dead after being hit by a car.

Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso told 12News that the vehicle left the scene after hitting the person. Police are speaking with witnesses and looking for video.

The area of the crash is just a couple of blocks from Motiva.

Nothing else is known about the events leading up to the crash or the identity of people involved.

Port Arthur police are on scene investigating.
