Leticia Detrow didn’t have much of a choice.

Her sprinting times had plateaued. And, unbeknownst to her, Randy Shank, her track coach at Maryland School for the Deaf, had signed her up for a pair of distance races, the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, at the 14th annual Berg/Seeger Classic on April 14, 2024 at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin.
