The Burlington County XC Open, held in a new location this year (Crystal Lake Park in Mansfield, NJ), brought together some of South Jersey’s top runners and teams in one of the biggest annual meets of the N.J. cross-country season.
Here’s what went down during the girls race.
Flanagan continues dominant stretch
There aren’t many runners in the state who are on the kind of heater that Julia Flanagan is on right now.
After taking fourth last year, Flanagan completely wiped the field at this year’s Burlington County XC Open, taking the win in 17:54.47. The Holy Cross Prep senior is one of just nine runners statewide who have broken 18 minutes this season, and she’s the only runner in the state to have done it at three different meets.
Flanagan won by more than 27 seconds.
