A swimmer said he was 'lucky to be alive' after he suffered a heart attack in the pool.

Pete Ram went into cardiac arrest while exercising at WV Active in Bilston.

The team at the Bert Williams Leisure Centre sprung into action when the 65-year-old experienced a medical emergency on September 8.

The lifeguard team quickly removed Pete from the water, administered CPR, and used the on-site defibrillator.

As this was happening, 999 was called, medics arrived to take Pete to Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.
