HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kilauea puts on a record-breaking light show with episode 35 underway.
After a couple of days of bubbling and overflows, lava fountains began from the north vent at about 8:05 p.m. Friday.
The fountains began shooting out of both events at around 9 p.m., reaching heights of 600-700 feet, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Shortly before 9:20 p.m., USGS said the fountains from both vents reached over 1,000 feet, with the south vent about 1,150 feet.
At around 9:30 p.m., USGS said the south vent topped 1,300 feet and the north vent is about 1,100 feet, which is a record for both fountains during this eruption.
