Kelso got a huge win Friday night at McKenzie Stadium.
But it came with a huge cost.
The Hilanders lost senior quarterback Anders Dahl on top of a previous injury to lineman Parker Stewart.
But enough players made key contributions to propel Kelso to 28-0 win over Heritage in a 3A Greater St. Helens League game Friday.
But the Hilanders found a way to persevere.
“There’s a standard, there’s an expectation,” Kelso coach Darin Gardner said. “It starts with making sure everybody is prepared, not just the 11 guys that are starters. Our coaches do a really good job of making sure that the No. 2s and our 3s see value in their role and their position, and know that at any time they could be called upon to step up. And like I said, we had a ton of guys do that tonight.”
