Attacking midfielder Max Burgess must be the Newcastle Jets’ lucky charm.

Since his arrival in the off-season from Sydney FC, he’s yet to taste defeat with the Hunter A-League Men’s (ALM) club.

That not only includes an unbeaten run in the Australia Cup, and overall success in the tournament, but impressing the organisation’s supporter base with his cool head in the centre of the park.

For good measure, the 30-year-old found the back of the net in Newcastle’s 3-1 extra-time victory over Heidelberg United in the final and walked away with the Mark Viduka Medal for man of the match.

And, Burgess is keen to keep building on that momentum when the Jets tackle the Central Coast Mariners at polytec Stadium in round one on Sunday 19 October.
