Five-year-old Hemi Andrews lives with half a heart, but his proud family will tell you he also lives with boundless courage, love, curiosity and joy.

And that their miracle boy’s strength in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges — including six open heart surgeries — has taught them the meaning of gratitude, perseverance and perspective.

“Although he looks like the happiest little boy on Earth right now, the reality is, Hemi’s future is completely unknown,” his mum Brooke English told The West Australian.

“Yet somehow, through it all, he continues to smile, laugh, and love life with all his heart, and then some.”
