LANDIS, N.C. — Authorities are searching for suspects who fired shots at police officers after a vehicle chase ended in a crash Friday night in Landis.

Landis Police attempted to stop a vehicle around 11:30 p.m. on South Chapel Street near East Ryder Avenue for careless and reckless driving and speeding.

The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of East 30th Street and South Chapel Street, according to the police department.

After the crash, the suspects fired shots at officers before fleeing on foot, police said. No officers were injured.

Landis Police said the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
