State pensioners born after 1953 face having to give back Winter Fuel Payment over their earnings. Women state pensioners born after 1953 qualify for the New, Full State Pension.

But earning the Full amount - which is worth £11,000 a year - puts you at risk of being dragged over the threshold where HMRC claws back the Winter Fuel Allowance.

Under Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) rules, those earning too much money - more than £35,000 - will automatically lose their £200 or £300 payment. State pensioners who earn over £23,000 are at risk if they are on the New State Pension.
